Can I pay for my server with PayPal?

Yes! Go through the signup forms normally and select PayPal as your payment option. In fact, PayPal is the preferred payment method of ZipServers.

How do you bill each month?

ZipServers.com bills your account on the 1st of each month. You will receive an invoice 7-days prior to the 1st. Invoices must be paid by the 3rd of each month to avoid disconnection. If your server is disconnected, your account will be assessed 3650 ZipReward points. If payment is not received by the 5th of each month, your server is taken offline and reclaimed back to our inventory

Are there certain countries ZipServers does not accept orders from?

Due to high fraud and embargo reasons, we do not accept orders from the following countries: Iraq, Vietnam, Libya, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Indonesia, Syria, Romania.

What comes pre-installed on my new server?

We do a standard installation of the Operating System you choose. If you want additional software packages added to your server you must request it. Just type in your request in the special requests and notes section of the online order form. Third party installs are also available for installation at no charge, however, we do not support third party apps.

When will my server be ready after I place my order?

VPS Servers and Shared accounts are generally setup within 15 - 30 minutes during normal business hours. Dedicated Server setup is usually less than 6 hours after your order has been verified. However, server setup may take up to 24 hours depending on demand and availability. Rest assured, we want your business and will do our best to get your server online as soon as possible.

Do you offer a FTP / iSCSI / NAS solution?

Yes! Options are available from our order forms.

Do you apply upgrades and patches? Do you do these automatically?

Upon request we will initiate an OS upgrade or patch. Some operating systems such as Windows and Red Hat Enterprise are automatically patched.

Can I send my own RAM / Hard Drive / Hardware to upgrade my server?

No, ZipServers.com does not allow this. Servers are only upgradable with ZipServers.com hardware.

Can I create my own network with more than 1 server?

Yes, you can connect more than one server. You can connect two servers via our private network at no additional charge. The private network is also available on VPS and Shared accounts and works across all duoz data centers.

Do I get root access with my server? Can I install my own software?

Yes, you will have root access to your server. You may install any software you like on the machine once we have put it online for you. Remember that any outside third party software is not supported by our technical support team.

If I cancel my server will I receive a refund?

No, we do not issue refunds for prepaid services. If you wish to cancel your server you will need to do so 72 hours before your next billing cycle. Choosing the right server for your needs is your responsibility when ordering. Please keep in mind we must purchase and place your server online which requires man hours and other expenses.

Do you allow IRC services on your servers?

We allow stand alone IRC servers that are not connected to global IRC networks such as Undernet, EFnet, DALnet and other IRC networks. IRC servers which establish and maintain connections to global IRC networks will be considered to be in violation of the Acceptable Use Policy.

Do you allow adult content on your servers?

Yes, legal adult content is allowed on our servers.

What is the charge for going over allotted bandwidth?

The cost for bandwidth overage is $0.10 per GB.

May I host IRC Services?

ZipServers allows the use of private Internet relay chat servers for communication among private parties. ZipServers absolutely prohibits the use of IRC servers connected to public IRC networks or servers. IRC servers that result in interference of service, malicious network activity or increased demand on network security services are in direct violation of the acceptable use policy. Violation of the IRC policy will result in methods of resolution under the acceptable use policy. IRC services may only be hosted on dedicated servers.

May I use Internet peer-to-peer software?

ZipServers allows the use of Internet peer-to-peer software for file sharing purposes. ZipServers highly recommends strict oversight and management of peer-to-peer software environments due to the propensity to violate copyright law by sharing commercial software or copyright protected material. The sharing of copyright protected software and material is NOT allowed and is in direct violation of federal law and the acceptable use policy. Violation of the Peer-to-Peer policy will result in methods of resolution under the policy.

May I use bit torrent protocols?

ZipServers allows the use of bit torrent protocols on the Public Network. ZipServers highly recommends strict oversight and management of Bit Torrent software environments due to the propensity to violate copyright law by sharing commercial software or copyright protected material. The sharing of copyright protected software and material is NOT allowed and is in direct violation of federal law and the acceptable use policy. Violation of the Bit Torrent policy will result in methods of resolution under the policy. Bit torrent protocols may only be used on dedicated servers.

Will my server be backed up regularly?

You can purchase a network-attached backup plan for your dedicated server or VPS. ZipServers makes backups of all VPSs at 2 hour intervals using our proprietary ZipSafe (TM) software. Dedicated servers are not automatically backed up by our ZipSafe system. It is a good idea to put forth a good backup strategy once you commission your server.

What is covered under a managed package?

We support and cover any installed OS and Control Panel ordered with your VPS or dedicated server. This includes PHP, MySQL, Apache, mail servers, FTP, etc. We do not guarantee support on third party programs. Our support teams can be asked to install third party apps, although we can not provide ongoing support for these apps.
